Waterman Butterfly V-1 Map
Steve Waterman, a self-taught theoretical nuclear physicist, created a 14-sided polyhedral map in 1996 based on the mathematics of sphere-packing. The 2012 versions of this map are being distributed by Waterman, who is based in Montreal. ODT has a limited number of the 1996 version in stock. The 1996 version is an almost-equal area map. Waterman postcards and magnets are also available from ODT. Single map - in plastic gift-tube - $38.95
Bulk order - 5 maps for $130 - no gift tubes Bulk order - 10 maps for $200 - no gift tubes Bulk order - 20 maps for $320 - no gift tubes Damaged maps w. frayed edges - $12 each - no gift tubes (will be folded or rolled depending upon the rest of your map order) 2012 Waterman map - Atlantic version (not pictured here) - $89.00 (limited supply) The 2012 edition ALSO comes packaged with a copy of the V1 - 1996 edition and also a map Explanation prepared by Steve Waterman.
ODT does not supply the map in a laminated format, but several map resellers have stock which they will laminate the 1996 version for you (see OMNI map). Much less expensive than laminating it yourself at a local copy center, where the lamination alone can cost $70 per map.
We've had many requests to ship the rolled map internationally, but the length of the box means the shipping cost is $30-$50 (depending on the destination). To enable international customers to get this map, we've gently folded a few copies (1996 version) and can ship them in a padded envelope. However, the folded maps are fragile and may be damaged in transit. SKYPE us at ODTinc if you have questions about international shipping. $42.79 each
